Kunjan Pillai, the eminent lexicographer, historian, researcher, scholar, prose writer, poet, critic, orator, grammarian, educationist and socio-cultural leader. This site is meant as a tribute to Dr. Suranad P.N. Kunjan Pillai, and we hope to bring his life and work to a wide audience worldwide.

You can read about his life and works here, view a gallery featuring rare photos (many of them unseen) of him with eminent personalities and literati, as well as with his family and friends, browse the books he wrote and those written about him, and see the awards he received. This website aims to rekindle interest in the painstaking efforts Dr. Suranad Kunjan Pillai took as a lexicographer and writer. Towards this end, we hope to undertake and assign studies on his contributions, which will surely be a valuable addition in the field of literary research.

We have a blog section dedicated to Dr. Suranad Kunjan Pillai where we will feature tributes made to him. “The Creative Space” is a section that will carry peer-reviewed creative and critical writing in both Malayalam and English. Both these sections will be regularly updated, so you can have some interesting reading. “The Creative Space” is designed to encourage and nurture creative writing and research, both of which Dr. Suranad Kunjan Pillai considered priceless and were close to his heart.
